Hilliards Park Estate

The "Hilliards Park Residential Estate" comprises 188 allotments varying from 700 to 850m2 in area, constructed over six stages. MCH Properties purchased the en-globo land (three properties), conditional upon approvals for rezoning and subdivision. The process of obtaining approval through the local shire Council took seven years to complete but the wait was well worth it!

From the outset it was clear that this site had special environmental qualities and these features became the obvious point of difference for the Estate. Balancing both the residential and environmental objectives resulted in extensive open space that provided habitat for wildlife, while creating an attractive background for residential living. An integral part of the development was the preservation of the thriving koala population and appealing creek environment.

A sense of ownership has been created for new residents and the existing community through discerning provision of pedestrian connectivity between the Estate and facilities such as local sporting fields, shops and private transport.

Engineering and design challenges were opportunities for innovative site-specific solutions for stormwater, sewerage, environmental preservation and corridor crossings.

The success of the Estate is evident by its endorsement as a model for an eco-friendly community by the local Council and its recognition by the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) as a finalist in their annual "Awards for Excellence" in 2001.
